Google Pixel Watch 3 could come in two different sizes

According to a 9to5Google report, Google is developing two sizes for the upcoming Pixel Watch 3. The aim is to improve the design concerns raised by users of the first two generations.

The Pixel Watch 2, launched in October last year, had upgraded specifications but retained the same design, featuring a 41mm diameter and 12.3mm thickness.

While the exact sizes are unknown, the larger option will exceed the 41mm size of the Pixel Watch 2. A larger case could accommodate a 1.3″ or even larger display, improving battery life and potentially adding new health sensors. In comparison, Samsung offers the Galaxy Watch 6 in 40mm and 44mm sizes, and the Apple Watch Series 9 is available in 41mm or 45mm.

The report suggests that if Google releases multiple sizes of the Pixel Watch 3, the larger model may not be compatible with existing bands, likely using 22mm bands compared to the current 20mm bands on the Pixel Watch 2.

Given the absence of news about a new Qualcomm wearable chipset for the Wear OS platform, it’s likely that the Pixel Watch 3 will continue using the existing Snapdragon W5 chipset.

Google may also address complaints about thick bezels seen in previous generations of the smartwatch. The smartwatch is anticipated to debut in early October alongside the Pixel 9 series, with more details expected closer to the launch.
