Pixel Fold 2 with a narrow form factor, redesigned camera module surfaces

A leaked photo of the Google Pixel Fold 2 has revealed some design changes that might be coming, following the recent report of hardware specs, according to Android Authority. The new phone has a narrower cover screen compared to the first-gen Pixel Fold.

This suggests that the overall form factor of the Fold 2 might be similar to other foldable phones like the OnePlus Open, with screens that are in between the Pixel Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 in size.

The narrower form factor of the Pixel Fold 2 might be surprising to some, but it’s likely because many Android apps aren’t optimized for tablets. By making the Fold 2 narrower, Google might avoid the need for software workarounds to deal with apps that don’t run well in landscape mode.

The leaked image also shows a redesigned camera bump on the rear of the Pixel Fold 2, with four sensors and an LED flash. It no longer has a camera bar that extends from edge to edge. The phone shares design similarities with the upcoming Pixel 9 series, such as a more rounded display and a premium aluminum frame.

The inner screen of the Pixel Fold 2 reportedly has a display cutout in the top right corner for the internal screen camera, unlike its predecessor, and crease in the foldable screen is still noticeable, as per report.

The leaked device is still in early development, so its design may change before mass production. We have a long way to go, and more details may emerge closer to the release date, which might be later this year.
