Google I/O 2024 scheduled to be held on May 14

Google has confirmed that Google I/O 2024 will be held on May 14th. As usual, it revealed it with a puzzle, and then Google revealed it officially after the puzzle was solved. It will have a live event at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, hosted by CEO Sundar Pichai.

Google said that it will reveal details about its latest developer products, technologies, and ways to engage with the developer community.

Google already released the first Android 15 developer preview, and in May, the company should release Android 15 beta 2, and reveal several smartphone partners.

The company is also expected to introduce the Pixel 8a, since we saw the Pixel 7a last year. It is not clear if we can expect Pixel Fold 2 at the event. Last year, the company also introduced new features to Wear OS, this time we can expect Android XR, AI announcements, and more as hinted in the puzzle.

Regarding what we can expect, Google on its Developer’s blog said:

The Gemini era unlocks new possibilities for developers to build creative and productive AI-enabled applications. I/O is where you’ll hear how you can get from idea to production AI applications faster. We’re excited to share what’s new for mobile, web, and multiplatform development, and how to scale your applications in the cloud. You will be able to dive deeper into topics that interest you with over 100 sessions, workshops, codelabs, and demos.
