Apple MacBook Air 15-inch expected to launch in 2023: Here’s all you need to know

According to display analysts, Apple is working on a new 15-inch MacBook Air that could be released as early as next year, as well as a refresh of the 13-inch MacBook Air and a new 12-inch iPad model.

Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted today, saying that commercial development of the anticipated laptop might begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. Kuo also predicted that the 15-inch MacBook would ditch the “Air” branding and return to the solitary “MacBook” moniker. The 12-inch model, which was decommissioned years ago, was the last “MacBook.”

According to Display Supply Chain Consultants expert Ross Young, the new 15-inch MacBook Air model would join the existing MacBook Air, which could possibly get a display size bump. The findings originated from the company’s quarterly display analysis report.

Young has a reputation for excellence in accurately reporting on Apple’s display technology. The report says that the new predictions are based on interviews with brands, panel suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and other people in the display industry.

It’s unclear what Apple has planned for the 13-inch MacBook Air. Apple may reduce the device’s bezel size, allowing the display to be slightly closer to 14 inches, as it is on current MacBook Pro models.

Young believes that, in addition to the MacBook Air, Apple is working on a larger 10-inch iPad model. When measured diagonally, the base model iPad has a 10.2-inch screen. By reducing the bezel size, the screen size of the device could be increased to 10.9 inches, like the iPad Air.

This isn’t the first time a 15-inch MacBook Air has been mentioned. Apple was at least exploring a 15-inch MacBook Air model in 2015, according to internal emails written by late Apple cofounder Steve Jobs. Those intentions, of course, were never carried out by Apple. According to the latest reports, Apple’s current MacBook Air laptops may not be redesigned until later in 2022.
