HMD Global confirms Nokia 9 Pureview won’t get Android 11 update; users get 50% discount on XR20

HMD Global introduced the company’s flagship Nokia 9 PureView camera-centric smartphone at the MWC back in 2019 running Android 9.0 (Pie). The phone got Android 10 update in December 2019. In October last year, it promised that it will get Android 11 update in Q2 2021, later it pushed it to Q3 2021. Now, we are at the end of Q4 2021, and the company has confirmed that the phone won’t get Android 11 update.
The company says that it couldn’t offer Android 11  upgrade for Nokia 9 PureView due to incompatibilities between the camera and the software which would have led to a compromised experience that does not meet its high standards.

Offer for Nokia 9 PureView users

For the Nokia 9 PureView users who are looking to experience Android 11, it is offering a 50% discount on Nokia XR20, or another device depending on the regional availability. You just need to go to the Nokia 9 upgrade page, share your email address and the IMEI number of your Nokia 9 PureView device in the form to get the discount code.

The company said that the discount is calculated from the recommended retail price when you next purchase an eligible device. To remind you, the Nokia XR20 costs Rs. 46,999 in India, so with 50% discount, it will be available for Rs. 23,499.

The Nokia XR20 rugged phone that runs Android 11 will get three years of software upgrades and four years of security updates, confirmed the company at its launch.
