HMD gears up to launch 3 phones, plans offline push with Nokia: Report

HMD is gearing up to release three new phones in its upcoming launch, according to a report by 91Mobiles. This comes after the recent rebranding of the official website and social media accounts from Nokia to HMD.

Three New HMD Phones

HMD is set to introduce three phones, including an affordable model priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000. Notably, the company has no intentions of launching phones exceeding Rs 40,000 in India this year, says the report.

The most expensive model is speculated to feature a 108MP camera.

Dual Brand Strategy

The report reveals that HMD Global holds the Nokia license until 2026 and plans to release phones under both the Nokia and HMD names.

These phones will be available at different retail outlets, with Nokia focusing exclusively on offline markets and HMD phones being introduced online and in major retail stores.

The dual strategy is expected to influence the pricing of HMD and Nokia phones. HMD brand smartphones aim to provide ‘value for money,’ while Nokia phones available offline may have a slightly higher price tag.

Service Center Expansion

Additionally, HMD Global is reportedly planning to open exclusive service centers alongside the phone launch, emphasizing a strategic commitment to providing specialized support for its products.

Expected Launch date?

As MWC 2024 approaches, further details are anticipated at the event in Barcelona at the end of this month, shedding more light on HMD’s plans for the upcoming phones.
