Samsung India will roll out 5G update for all its devices by mid-November

After Apple, Samsung India has confirmed that it is working with carrier partners, and will roll out OTA updates for all its 5G devices by mid-November, so that the devices will work with Airtel and Reliance Jio’s 5G networks.

Since Samsung has mentioned as devices, this should also include the 5G versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series.

Airtel’s non-standalone 5G Plus network went live in eight Indian cities earlier this month. The company listed the devices that will support 5G services on its network. This has several latest Samsung phones, including the S22 series and the new foldables, but Samsung will need to update the S21 series, older foldables and other models.

Reliance Jio’s 5G service based on standalone (SA) architecture went live in beta in 4 cities recently, and it will expand progressively as cities keep getting ready, said the company.

Regarding the 5G update for its devices, Samsung India spokesperson, said:

Samsung has pioneered 5G technology development since 2009 and took the leading role in standardizing 5G technology globally. In India, Samsung has the widest portfolio of 5G devices. We are working closely with our operator partners and are committed to rolling out OTA updates across all our 5G devices by mid-November 2022, enabling Indian consumers to experience 5G seamlessly.
