Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Xiaomi 12X with Snapdragon 870 announced for global markets


Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 12,  Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12X, the company’s latest 12 series smartphones, in China in December last year. After over two months, the company has launched these smartphones for the global markets in an online event, as it had promised.

Both the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, LPDDR5 RAM, which supports up to 6400Mbps transfer rate and new generation UFS 3.1 that offers sequential write speeds of up to 1450MBps.

The cooling system has an extra-large 2600mm² VC soaking plate in a light and compact body, along with 10000mm² of heat-dissipating graphite, while the antenna area is also covered with white graphene. The Xiaomi 12 features a Sony IMX766 main camera with a 1/1.56″ sensor size, a 13MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 5MP telemacro camera.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro features a 50MP custom Sony IMX707 sensor with an ultra-large 1/1.28″ sensor which utilizes 2.44μm 4-in-1 pixels. The advanced camera system setup improves light capturing capabilities by 49% compared to the previous generation, says Xiaomi. It uses 50MP JN1 sensor for the 115° ultra-wide camera and 50MP 2x telephoto camera for portrait shots.

These run Android 12 with MIUI 13, and Xiaomi has also confirmed 3 Android OS updates and 4 years of security updates for the phones.

The cheaper Xiaomi 12X replaces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the Xiaomi 12 with the Snapdragon 870 and lacks wireless charging.

Pricing and availability

The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro come in Purple, Blue, Gray colours. The Xiaomi 12X starts at $649 (Rs. 49,570 approx.) for the 8GB + 128GB version, the Xiaomi 12 starts at $749 (Rs. 57,210 approx.) for the 8GB + 128GB version and the Xiaomi 12 Pro starts at $999 (Rs. 76,300 approx.) for the 8GB + 256GB version. These will roll out in several countries in Asia and Europe soon.

Xiaomi also offers international warranty for the series in 50 markets worldwide and has also confirmed 2 years warranty and 1 time screen replacement within the first month of purchase.
