MacBook Air with M2 chip could to launch by 2022-end, MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro, M2 Max in 2023

Mark Gurman, an Apple-focused tech reporter in Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter addressed a few questions on the upcoming MacBook Air and new MacBook Pro models with the all-new M2 series of processors during a post-game Q&A.

According to the report, Apple had planned to release the next MacBook Air with “an all-new design, MagSafe, the M2 processor, and more” towards the end of 2021 or early 2022, but that date has now reportedly been pushed back to the second half of 2022.

Further, the “M2 Pro” and “M2 Max” chipsets are more likely to appear next year for Apple’s high-end 14” and 16” MacBook Pro models rather than this year. In terms of MacBook Pros, Gurman predicts that just a new 13-inch model with the M2 chip will be released this year.

Apple appears to be following a two-year upgrade cycle for its M-series CPUs. In November 2020, Apple released the M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and entry-level Mac mini; the firm may fall into line by launching a range of new M2 Mac computers by the end of 2022.
